Illustration - **Contest Winner** - In The Skies
I submitted this image into the Digital-Tutors (now Pluralsight) monthly contest. The contest theme was "In The Skies" and I came up with a concept of a boy being whisked away to another world. Much to my delight, I won and received an Amazon gift card.
Most of the models in this image were created in ZBrush. I experimented with different brushes and decimated the models to achieve the desired look. The scene lighting and rendering was done in 3DS MAX. The final elements were created in Photoshop.
Experimentation is one of my favorite aspects of design and animation. The image above on the left was created by taking imported elevation data and projecting it onto a 3D mesh. Color was applied by vertex painting in 3DS Max.
